also showcase Kings and show footage of the town. Jim
Kanas is an ArtsTour and Artist-in-Education artist with
the Illinois Arts Council. Kanas has devoted a large portion of
his career to working with school aged children, both regular, special
and music students. He is known throughout the state for his program
on the development of American Music. His program contributes to
the understanding of Jim
has recently won a national leadership award.
The
Chicago Tribune calls Jim Kanas "...a master...".
He has been called a musician's musician and bridges gaps between
classical and folk music. He is an award winning jazz guitarist,
multi-instrumentalist and gifted educator.
Jim has performed in concert, festivals, broadcast and recorded
medium for over twenty years.
In
addition to being broadcast in Chicago, WTTW's "Arts Across Illinois"
will be offered throughout the state and on city cable systems,
to encourage Illinois residents to explore and enjoy the wide array
of visual and performing arts opportunities made available with
the help of the Illinois Arts Council. Chicago native and nationally
known broadcaster and interviewer Bob Sirott narrates Arts Across
Illinois. Sirott has had an award-winning career in both radio and
television and is host of WTTW's new expanded Chicago Tonight. He
brings his experience in covering the intersection of art and entertainment
to his role as narrator of this special four-part series. Arts Across
Illinois is an original production of WTTW11. This program was produced
